Mobile phone chip manufacturing giant Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 8c and Snapdragon 7c  mobile processors for thin-and-light always-connected personal computers (ACPCs). These new chip is designed to power Windows 10 based always connected thin personal laptops. Company is expected to grab fast growing ACPCs market.

Last year, Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8cx 5G platform to capture the growing always-connected personal computers (ACPCs) market segment. This year at Snapdragon Tech Summit, company announced Snapdragon 8c and Snapdragon 7c mobile processors for further expanding ACPC chipset portfolio.

According to the Qualcomm, these new chips will make use of the integrated modem in Snapdragon chips to connect to the Internet. System uses the fast LTE network to provide always on Internet connectivity. These new chips come with the higher power-efficiency for extended battery life of the laptop. Those looking for such thin-always connected PC may buy laptops developed using Snapdragon 8c and Snapdragon 7c chips.

Laptops developed using these chips will bring higher power efficiency and better performance. New ACPC will be able to provide memory upto 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and PCIe connectivity.

With the introduction of Snapdragon 8c and Snapdragon 7c processors, company is expanding its portfolio aiming at affordable ACPCs. Company’s octa-core Kryo 468 CPU cores come with a promise of 25% performance boost. Company is promising upto twice battery life efficiency in the day-to-day usage.

The Snapdragon 7c offers Snapdragon X15 LTE modem for fast connectivity, it is promising 800Mbps download and 15MBps upload speed in LTE network.

The Snapdragon 7c chipset based laptops is also using the Adreno 618 GPU for fast graphical processing. This makes it a fast laptop for playing games and general usages.

New Snapdragon 8c and Snapdragon 7c  comes with the CPU, GPU, and DSP gains for using it in AI-accelerated Windows 10  system. New system is all set to provide excellent performance and AI features to the users.

The 5G connectivity is not available with these laptops; users still have to rely on the LTE network even if 5G is available in their area. Company may improve this area by providing 5G network support in future version of their chipset.
